Lakai “Where The Wild Things Are” Collection

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on July 31, 2008 by kickitskate

The classic children’s book by Maurice Sendak “Where The Wild Things Are” is currently being adapting into a feature film by awarding winning film and skate video director Spike Jones. Since Spike is always wearing the Lakai MJ3’s, Lakai decided it would be fitting to make a shoe to tie into the film. Instead of doing just one shoe, Spike thought it would be cool to take it a step further and do something like the Wrench Pilot and Quiet Life Series’ Lakai has done in the past, and the result is a four models series consisting of the Telford, Mariano 2, Howard, and MJ3. The movie has been pushed to late 2009, however; the shoes will be available in stores mid-Summer 2008.

Sprint 2 Queens x Goliath x DC Shoes

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on July 30, 2008 by kickitskate

With a goal of designing a shoe that represented the heart and soul of New York, Sprint 2 Queens’ Leo Velasquez and his counterpart Michelle Perez of Goliath set out to create a shoe that best embodied elements of New York. Named the “Tri Borough Connection”, the design incorporates elements of two of New York’s famous pro sports teams as their colorways are seen throughout the shoe in royal blue and orange. Dookie rope laces are also added for that bit of New York flavor. The co-branding from both parties is featured on the heel with NYC embroidered on the toe. 5% of all sales of this shoe will be donated to Sweat Equity Enterprises which focuses on helping youth accomplish their dreams through multi-faceted skill training. Coming on the heels of another recent collabo with Mike Shinoda, these are another strong release from the DC camp.

Slap Magazine x adidas Skateboarding

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on July 29, 2008 by kickitskate

The final steps are in place as Slap Magazine has narrowed it down to its two final choices in its upcoming collaboration with adidas Skateboarding. The process originally began back in June as readers of Slap Magazine were given the opportunity to pick & choose democratically which styles and colors they wanted from adidas Skateboarding. The final two choices include a red (suede) or black/blue (suede/corduroy) colorway of the Campus Hi Vulc. This marks a second opportunity for Slap Magazine to create their own shoe with a Nike SB Abbington released earlier this year. Your vote can be cast now over at SlapMagazine.

Mattel Hover Board (Taken it Back to the Future) “Macfly”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on July 28, 2008 by kickitskate

I guess the time to sell is now for all Back to the Future II related memorabilia. Thanks to the media craze initiated by Nike with their Hyperdunk 2015, the days/weeks following its release saw an auction pop up for the Nike Mag (which ended at $5,300 USD) with its complimentary prop the Mattel Hover Board now also up for grabs on the internet auction block site eBay. However with $30,000 as the starting bid for this (obviously) unfunctional prop, it’s a steep price to pay. Unlike other props made of styrofoam which hasn’t passed the test of time, this Hover Board is made of wood and metal complete with a texturized paint job. I don’t see the skateboard being replaced seven years from now by a floating board though. See the a clip of the Hover Board in action after the jump.

VANS No SKOOL Dustin Dollin’s

Dustin Dollin’s 3rd pro model is nothing short of perfection. Created as an upgrade to the Old Skool, this shoe has the fit, support and performance that you would expect in the modern cupsole version of the Vans “waffle” sole. I don’t know how old these are but I’m totally diggin the blue.

he rustic and timeless philosophy of 5&A Dime is seen in their latest tag-team effort with Crooks & Castles. Referencing the beer known as a meal in itself, Guinness’s crest is at the center of the design combining elements of each respective brand such as the Medusa head from Crooks.

The roll-out of unannounced Nike SB Dunks for July continues as a Dunk High has dropped at select retailers.
